Case Studies by workshop participants

Forum for Policy Dialogue on Water Conflicts (Forum) in India, organized three training workshops on understanding and resolving water conflicts. These training workshops were aimed at introducing participants to the basic concepts, debates, theoretical and analytical approaches and emerging issues related to water conflicts and their resolution in India
First workshop was held in collaboration with the Chalakudy Puzha Samrakshan Samiti and Kerala State Resource Centre of the Forum, from 5 to 8 April 2010 in Ernakulum, Kerala. Second workshop was held from18-22 July 2011 at Satapada (Chilika lake), in Odisha in collaboration with the Odisha State Centre of the Forum. The third workshop was organised for participants from the North East India, in collaboration with Aaranyak (Guwahati); Centre for the Environment, IIT (Guwahati); Arghyam (Bangalore); SaciWATERs-CapNet Network (SCaN) and Cap-Net, from 23-26 January 2012
As part of the methodology used in these workshops, the participants were requested to prepare a short case study on any water conflicts they know. Forum provided a format for the case study. These case studies were used for group work and/or for individual presentations during the training programmes. The authors were also provided individual feedback. In the light of all these, most of the authors revised the case studies. Most of the participants were either young researchers (including M. Phil and Ph. D. scholars) or activists.
Here we are sharing these case studies with the readers and they include:
  1. Wetlands of Noyyal river basin by M. Gunasekaran and S. Bharathidasan
